APPLE - To Be or Not To Be?

I have always wondered how an Apple computer thingamabobs work. I mean, I've been to Apple stores and have seen them and have tried to use them (especially the ones connected to a piano keyboard), but as tech-savvy as I'd like to think I am, I never got the hang of it. I mean, it's a bit unnerving when the store/sales people are staring at you from a distance thinking that you're either very dumb or that you're trying to figure out a way to run out of that shop with that MAC without anyone noticing. Since I don't particularly enjoy imprinting either one of those images into one's mind at any point in time, I just don't get to hang around long enough to figure out how it works.

Last week in Tassie, I managed to, for the first time ever, experience a Mac. I know laa, I must sound very stone-aged to you.

The boyf's home happened to have one of those big-arse ones, with bigger-than-my-tivo-screen. As it turns out, it is a necessary investment for those in the designing profession.

Anyway, I tried it out, as those of you who's been stalking my fb page have noticed. Didn't do much, just checked my emails and fb and tweets. BUT, the most amazing thing happened. Touching the mouse connected by a delicate white wire to the back of the really big tower under the table, clicking on in to enter a webpage, and typing on the simple yet delectable keyboard made me feel so girlie. And I mean, really girlie. And I liked that feeling of delicateness. There's something about the color white and girlishness.

So, having given in to the temptation of biting that Apple, I have since been captivated into the mystical world of MAC.. It must have something to do with everything being on the wrong side of the page. Grin.

A little while ago, I was considering getting myself an Ipod just so I can use that Ipod + Nike thingamabobs.
Especially since the new release of Ipod Nano has a touch screen (ooh, I do love touch screens. Am using a Nokia 5800 myself, and when it first came out, I knew that I had to get my hands on it)!! But I have to say that Apple could honestly do better than that with the options of colors they've given this range.. That said, I think it's a worthwhile buy.. But I have somehow convince myself along the way that I don't NEED it. And a couple of weeks of only talk and no buy later, I have decided that my Nokia 5800 expressmusic is doing a wonderful job and I don't need to seek another music player.

But the experience of using a MAC.. has seriously taken me to a whole other level.

It's not to say that my Toshiba NB305 isn't doing a good job. I daresay, it is doing a fantabulous job, especially at staying in my handbag when we travel. In fact, I picked it because I fell in love with its design, which is, in my opinion, the most girlie among PC products.. In terms of 'the feel of it'. Come to think about it, anyone who uses this baby can tell you that typing on its keyboard is not unlike a MAC.. But still, I have always loved being different. And since Malaysians aren't very big on Apple products (except the iPhone, of course) then by nature, I'd want something that they don't.

And I think, owning a MAC would be an awesome start.
The ultimate all-in-one. Turbocharged.

Especially one connected to the piano/keyboard, thingamabobs.
Ahh.

Someday. Somehow..

Burn, Fats, BURN !!

In anticipation of spring/summer and being able to show off some skin, I've been trying to shed some weight- you know, the ones I've gained over the past year, from being in a comfortable but yet super-exciting relationship with the boyf and from my working days as a lecturer.

For over a month now I've been going to the gym diligently, if not 3 times then 4 times a week. Here's how I've worked it out.

  1. Walk to gym - 10 minutes
  2. Jogging/running on the treadmill for at least 25 minutes.
  3. Cycling for another 20 minutes or so, give or take.
  4. Those complicated machines thingamabob for abs (and I started on thigh muscles this week).
  5. Lifting 2.5 kg weights (at least 2 sets of biceps, triceps and dunno what else the boyf concocted, 20 times each set).
  6. Crunches and leg-lifts (at least 50 each, started to reach 100 this week).
  7.  Walk home - 10 minutes
In terms of diet, I've been watching my food intake - practically stopped snacking, binge-eating, and all that junk food. I try to eat as little carbs and more protein (i.e. minimal rice/potatoes/bread, etc.. and more meat/fish/seafood/etc..) I've been cooking lately, just so I can try to put less oil and salt and thingamabobs in my food. Barely fry food anymore, because I've discovered the wonders of ovens and grills. Whenever I'm peckish, I either drink my yummy low-fat soy milk, a glass of bovril or miso soup, or yoghurt. Sometimes I treat myself to oats. And when I really, really, really want to treat myself; an occasional bite of beef jerky, a small bite of chocolate (the last time I bought Tim Tams, I had to throw the last 3 pieces away because it took me THAT long to finish the whole packet), or some cheese (oh, how i love Jarlsberg and Swiss).. For breakfast, I have cereal, up & go, or a meal-replacement protein shake. I only have 1 light meal a day. Then, I have something light for dinner, prolly leftovers from lunch or a sandwich, but always in small amounts.

With the advice of the sister (who has tried this and succeeded in shedding kilos), I've been chewing my food for longer periods of time and eating at a slower pace than I usually do.

I think I've got the math settled what with the workouts and diet.

Now, will someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong because the scale is indicating that I am indeed, putting on weight !!!?

It is really disheartening okay!

Okay, admittedly I slacked a little last week when we spent the whole week back in Tasmania.. Barely exercised BUT I did control my food intake. In addition, there's nothing but healthy food in that pantry anyway. How could I have possibly gained weight, eating nothing but "low fat" and "non fat" food!!? Plus, I have prove that what I ate in Tassie was way healthier than what my very own cooking - my lack of indigestion and increase in bowel movements only show that I've been eating nothing but healthy foods ok!

Something is terribly wrong with me, and I really need to get to the bottom of this.

And don't you even dare start telling me to consider about my hormones. After my previous cycle, I only dropped 0.4 kg !! A miserable ZERO POINT FOUR KG!!

In the old days, I go on a diet for 2 days and I lose 1 whole kilo. Go on a diet for a whole week and it's a guarantee that I lose at least 2 kilos. Sigh. Australia, what have you done to me!!?

And just this once
allow me to sign out with a silent and miserable whimper,

Xx.

Celebrating 'Lazy Week'

This must be the laziest week of my life.

Why is it that when you have plans to get work done, you get lazier by the second?
All my plans went down the drain because it's almost the end of the week, and I haven't gotten anything done. It's troubling, it really is.
Meanwhile, the boyf has something planned out for the weekend, in anticipation of good weather and sunny skies.

Ahh, Spring, I have been waiting for you.

If all turns out well, I'll post them photos.

Discriminated.

Today, the boyf and I hit the city for a day out.

And I got verbally bullied by 2 girls who don't look older than 15.
It's my first ever encounter with discrimination after so many months and because it's so amusing, I didn't even think of being upset about it.

We were on the escalator, carrying our shopping bags (went to DFO, Ahem!), in the train station and just chatting and these 2 girls came out of nowhere, pushing through us and our bags, and saying things like how I'm nothing but an "Asian slut". They said more things, but thats all I managed to catch. And if they boyf hadn't reacted so quickly, I wouldn't have realized that they were referring to me. I think with all the bags in his hand, he only managed some "piss off, fat bitch" or something.. I was over it before we reached our platform. AND THEY WERE THERE, verbally abusing me again! And once again, I was honest to God too amused by this scene to be upset about it.

And the psychologist in me kept wondering,
"What exactly drives people to act in such spiteful ways to random people on the streets?"

I suppose I can only blame their parents, huh?

I feel nothing but sorry for them.

WoW bullshit.

Bored to my wits.

The boyf’s WOW account got hacked and all that crap and he’s just going on and on about fixing it and since I don’t know what’s going on, so I just sit and stare.

I’m just bored.

That Perfect Date.

I’ve always believed that I’m a hopeless romantic.

Not that I’m the romantic one in any way, can’t say I’ve ever made a romantic gesture before. But I’ve always wanted a crazy romantic person who’d spoil me with never ending proclamations of his love for me and shower me with all that sweet nothings.

A couple of weeks ago, I couldn’t have been more sure that I’ve found one.

It was a private occasion, of course. Just to celebrate something between the both of us.. But I wasn’t expecting much. I would have been satisfied with just a little dinner for two someplace decent. But no, this darling of mine decided to surprise me with something nicer than a candlelight dinner for two.

Place: No 35 @ Sofitel on Collin’s Street.

(For those of you who don’t know, he eats NO seafood whatsoever, except John West’s Smoked Tuna, which apparently, isn’t fishy –_-).

We had a great waiter, unfortunately, not as great a photographer =( oh well.

Here’s to memories. First, of many more.

Back again, hopefully for good.

Once more, I’ve been less that faithful to my blog.

Will get back to it now.

I need some sort of order in my life. I need some sorta motivation too. Because I’m back to square ONE again – being a bum. Well, I suppose I’m working towards a better future, in the near future too. But as of today, yesterday and last week, I’m still not out there earning some money to support myself. Which is most unfortunate. Or, perhaps just a lucky thing.

Tonight, we hit the city for a double date.

Xx.
