American Idol is Back... For better or for worse?

It's almost a year now since we found the last winner, and the debate is still on:

Who deserved it better - Adam Lambert or Kris Allen?

So.. it's that time of the year where we get glued on to the TiVo because we're addicted to laughing at the misery of others. Grin.

Oh you know what I'm talking about.

Individuals will parade their voices, gifts or curses, whichever it might be and the whole world waits anxiously to hear what Simon Cowell has to say about that. Then of course, what Paula would do and how Randy would react. More often than not, it's not their words but actions that leaves us with that mixed feelings: should we laugh because it's funny or feel bad because the contestants are really that bad? That's a tough choice.

But, the dynamics of the judges are expected to change this time around because of the switch from Paula to Ellen. Rumour has it that this would be Simon's last season as a judge on American Idol.

So, my ultimate question is, is American Idol still as good without the kind words of Paula and ultimately "dreadful" Simon?

Would things be the same this time around without Paula?

Would the world prefer to see Simon or the replacement?

What do you think?

... I'm just curious.

Come to think about it, what is your favourite "Simon Comment"?

I seem to be able to only remember "dreadful".

IMPO, I don't think anyone could ever replace Simon. You may be able to pick up his 'meaniality' but that only means you're not original. On the other hand, I'm giving the other person the benefit of my doubts.

By the by, Jason Castro (from the previous season) has a new album and the song "Let's just fall in love again" is absolutely to die for. Not that I'm promoting anyone, but I was really hoping he'd win the last time round.. When he sang 'Michelle" ...
